Default Bought my first gun today!

I'm am so excited... Last week I received in the mail my PAL from my wonderful friends at the Canadian Government. For months now I've been going to gun shops looking at firearms fully aware that even if they were running the most amazing sale in the world I was powerless to do anything about it. I felt like a 14 year old at a car dealership....if the sales guy really knew me, he wouldn't waste his time....
Anyhow, I had decided that since I'm going to be doing most of my hunting in Strathcona county which is shotgun, muzzleloader and bow territory, I wanted a Mossberg 500 combo with the rifled cantilever barrel so I could put a scope on it. The only problem is that WWS and Cabelas don't carry it in their catalogue, so in their minds it doesn't even exist. I went to the other shops in town and Mossberg is WAY behind on production this year. My budget is tight so I had also decided on a synthetic stock instead of wood. But I was told that I wouldn't see it until July or August....
Today I dropped into P&D Enterprises because I was working in the neighborhood at the end of the day and I was bored. Turns out they happened to get one Mossberg 500 crown grade combo with the cantilever rifled barrel in the other day. The crown grade is a wood stock and it was cheaper than the synthetic I was planning on settling for. I called the trophy wife and begged her to understand why I NEEDED it and what an exceptional deal it was. She agreed. The budget is tight so it's on layaway, but it will be at home in a couple weeks.
Gotta tell you, I felt like a kid on his 18th birthday buying booze... Throwing that shiny new PAL on the counter and making such a grown up purchase. Pretty special feeling....

There's never a "last gun". You'll end up with a gun safe worth more then your car and house

The best disease ever, Gunitus.

My first rifles were hand me down from two generations(my old man made me wait for my pal) That was a landmark event, putting them in my own safe. I must say that the first new gun purchase, handing over your shiny card. Priceless.

congats!!

like everyone has said its quite the addiction.

for me I tell the wife the same thing over and over.

me "listen its a little known fact that guns multiply if kept in a safe, dry, dark place "
her "yea right sure they DO"
me "yep, their like gremlins..... only safer ... and more fun"
her- walks away shaking her head

I'm pretty sure I said hello to six new babies this past year.....maybe 7

I brought her home on Thursday! I'm not sure Mrs. Kevinboldt is quite as excited as I am, but that's OK... I don't think anyone is as excited as I am. I'm looking forward to many safe and successful seasons with my new friend...

Congrats. I'm thinking of getting the Mossberg 535 combo that comes with the a 24" rifled barrel. How long did it take for your PAL to come in, I'm patiently waiting for mine.
