New bushknife
With all the talk about skinning knives, I decided to get a local fella to build me a new bush knife for general purpose chopping and cutting of tree branches, etc.
I carry a small hatchet as well, but this Kukri is a bit lighter and more maneuverable in tight spots.
I watched him chop a 2X4, cut pop bottles with one slice , then slice paper and carving leather with it. 
He does Damascus as well, but I chose high carbon steel for mine. I really like stacked washer handles for the way they grip when wet so went with that style of handle. The pommel and hilt were also cast by him.
Pretty nice piece!

The Gurkhas have been known to take an enemy's head off with one swipe of these things, although theirs are a bit bigger than this one!

That’s a great looking knife. One of my kids bought a kukri this spring, it seems like a handy design for a bushcraft type knife

You're not supposed to put it back in the sheath without drawing blood, even if it's your own.

If it was a kirpan you would be correct but it is a kukri style blade

Not for a Kukhri , apparently for a Kirpan, I have heard for a Katana as well, but that would be a religious thing anyeay and not my religion!

Kind of an Arkansas toothpick with boomerang action function although I don't think I'd want to catch it on the comeback.

The design stems from about the 7th century.
This is the standard issue weapon of the famed Gurkha troops of Nepal.

The knife handles very well in the grip too, no rolling or slipping when cutting .

Are you using it to gut the animal too or just for chopping heads off and clearing the bush? I would think that the shape of the blade can be handy for that, just insert it and slide up to open the cavity…

I haven'tvtrird to gut with it, no, I have a d3dicated knife for that
I use it to open the sternums, cut brush, break pelvic bones , and chopping off heads,etc.
