Default Unaccompanied child removed from plane due to weight imbalance...

Watched this video and found out about this incident... Absolutely inexcusable negligence.

Full story in Simple Flying link below.

Quote:
A 14-year-old girl booked on a flight with Porter Airlines was removed due to a weight imbalance, as the airline did not realize she was an unaccompanied minor. The girl was not properly informed why she and other passengers were being deplaned and had to catch another flight 24 hours later.

What a load of new age Twaddle. When I was 14 years old I was travelling Canada and the world unaccompanied. I started working when I was 12 and I was also working in all the places I traveled to at 14. How coddled and incompetent are the kids of today that a 14 year old can't survive 24 hours without mommy's guiding hand. And we wonder why the world is going to crap.

Honestly, I read this and thought I would be annoyed, but not too concerned if my 14 year old daughter had to fend for her self for a day.
My wife would be losing her mind though, and I'd have to be outraged by default...

Edit:
I just read the article, and she wasn't even stranded. She got picked back up and went back home with her dad...

Not a big deal. However, being a minor, the airline should of noted this and picked someone else imo.

Read a study that said the average 14 year old in 1970 had a higher level of common sense than the average 20 year old has today.

I'm sure MAID would have stepped up....

I flew to Ontario when I was 12 with no one. However I will say I wouldn't be to quick to send my 12 year old daughter by herself. I realize this girl was 14. But yeah she was pocked up by heard dad but was pretty silly to not pick someone to kick and with no compensation

14 years old ? maybe throw out a couple of carry ons , problem solved . I recently traveled on a charter flight where I was passenger no. 100. I had an Isle seat in the very rear of the plane, the window seat was blocked of to make seating impossible. When I questioned the flight attendant, I was told the aircraft was rated for 100 passengers, one more would require extensive regulatory changes . Rules, rules, rules.
