Default Super moon

As a new hunter I have no experience with how full moons or super moons effect deer.

I planed on going after white tail Saturday morning and was wondering if I need to change my hunt to accommodate?

Some people swear by the moon and will say that a full moon is no good for deer hunting.

I have a finite number of days to hunt every year, so don’t even consider what the moon is doing. In my opinion it’s very far down the list of things to worry about. You won’t kill a deer while sitting at home, that’s for sure!

If you have a smartphone, there's some handy applications that will help calculate the solunar data for your location, and will help predict the times that animals are most active.

There's some online, like this ad-infested one: https://solunarforecast.com/hunting_...5159/-113.4290 (the lat/long is for Edmonton in this case)

But like Muirsy says, you can't kill 'em while sitting at home!

If the animals aren't "out", they still have to be somehwere. Gotta go find them.

True, a lot of hunters like to head to camp for lunch and a nap... And that's kind of the way I was brought up. It's great for camaraderie and relaxation, but I'm finding it's way more productive to have lunch on the trail/stand and make the most of the day.

Default Moon

Just go hunting. You won’t tag out sitting at home

There are lots of reasons not to be in the field, moon phase would be really low on my list of reasons to stay home. My personal experience would be that the most productive times are first light, between 10:30 and 12:30 and late afternoons, those 3 plus anytime immediatly after bad weather, like as soon as it stops raining or snowing there seems to be a brief window of activity , but to take advantage of that you need to be out in the rain or the snow so you can be out there as soon as it stops while everybody else is playing cards at camp.
Just my experience and moon phase wouldn't even be a consideration.

Get out there. Load your rifle and hunt sun up to sun down. Have fun.
